Joan Silverstein is the former Chief of the Criminal Division for the United States Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Florida. She has a wide range of experience in white collar criminal matters, including financial crimes, health care fraud, and securities fraud. Joan also has deep expertise with governmental investigations of companies in a wide range of industries.
As a former federal prosecutor, Joan handled and managed some of the most complex and consequential criminal matters in the Nation. In government, Joan also served as Chief and Deputy Chief of the Economic and Environmental Crimes Section, where she focused on complex financial fraud, including in the investment, healthcare, and mortgage fields, as well as enforcement of the False Claims Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Bank Secrecy Act, and all other key financial statutes.
Joan has also served as a Special Assistant to the Associate Attorney General at the Department of Justice in Washington and received the Justice Department’s prestigious Director’s Award.
Joan attended Yale University and Georgetown University Law Center, where she graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif. Prior to her service with the Justice Department, she clerked for the late Judge Louis H. Pollack of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Joan is a lifetime resident of South Florida and likes to read and play pickleball.
